STATE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY Training Opportunity Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Course Class Dates: May 16-18, 2008 Course Description: CERT Training is designed to prepare individuals to help themselves, their family, and their neighbors in the event of a catastrophic disaster. Because emergency services personnel will not be able to help everyone immediately, CERT trained individuals can make a difference by using the training to save lives and protect property. This training covers basic skills that are important to know in a disaster when emergency services are not available. With training and practice and by working as a team, individuals will be able to do the greatest good for the greatest number after a disaster, while protecting them from becoming a victim. Target Audience: Deaf and Hard of Hearing citizens wishing to become active in CERT
