    HB181 (Captioning of Educational Videos)
                PUblic Hearing Scheduled

The House Higher Education Committee will hold a public hearing for
HB 181 on Tuesday, February 27, at 5:00 PM in House Hearing Room #3
of the Capitol Building.  HB 181, if passed, would require that beginning
January 1, 2008 manufacturers and publishers of electronic video
instructional materials (CD, DVD, videotape, film, etc) offered for adoption
or sale in Missouri shall supply those materials with either open or closed
captions, or they will be liable to the purchaser for the cost of adding captions. 

Persons who wish to see this bill become law are invited to attend this
public hearing and testify in support of the bill.  If you cannot attend the hearing
and wish to support the bill, and if you have not already done so, please
send an e-mail indicating your support of HB 181 to roy.miller@mcdhh.mo.gov
and it will be distributed to all members of the House Higher Education Committee.
