The Missouri Commission
for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing exhibited
at the “Pathways to Student Success” conference at Tan-Tar-A Resort
last weekend (March 4-5). The Pathways conference is hosted annually
by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. This year
the conference was attended by 728 people and featured 39 exhibit
booths. Our purpose for exhibiting at the Pathways Conference every
year is to make ourselves available to answer teachers’ questions about
the requirements for interpreters working in educational settings and to
educate teachers regarding the special communication needs of deaf
and hard of hearing students. Indeed, there is no better “Pathway to
Success” for students with hearing loss than guaranteeing that their
communication needs are met in all of their classrooms.
