Hearing Missourians, · Being prepared for a catastrophic disaster? · Obtaining basic emergency preparedness training in disaster survival and rescue skills? · Assisting members of your community after a catastrophic disaster strikes until emergency responders or other assistance could arrive?
If
you answer YES to the above, register TODAY for the Missouri’s State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) is proud to host CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training for interested deaf and hard of hearing Missouri citizens. CERT training is designed to prepare you to help yourself, your family, and your neighbors in the event of a catastrophic disaster. This training course covers basic skills that are important to know in a disaster when emergency services are not available. With training and practice and by working as a team, you will be able to do the greatest good for the greatest number of people after a disaster, while protecting yourself from becoming a victim. This training is LIMITED to 30 registered deaf and hard of hearing participants who reside in Missouri. Missouri residents of the St. Louis metropolitan area will be given registration preference for this class. There will not be any reimbursement of travel costs incurred to attend this class. For residents of the Springfield, Missouri metropolitan area, a similar CERT class is tentatively scheduled for June 13-15, 2008. Once the class is confirmed, promotional/registration material will be released.
