Posted March 4, 2002 (HB 1715 - Interpreters in Juvenile Proceedings)
HB 1715 was introduced by Representatives Danielle Moore and Chuck Graham on 1/30/02, and referred to the House Judiciary Committee on 2/14/02. HB 1715 will have a public hearing on Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at 3:00 p.m. in Hearing Room # 5 of the Capitol. Under current Missouri law, interpreters must be provided to deaf persons for certain proceedings in state prisons. HB 1715 would extend this requirement to provide interpreters to deaf persons in proceedings in juvenile detention or correctional facilities. The executive director of the Missouri Commission for the Deaf will testify in support of this bill.

Advocates who wish to support this bill can do so by contacting the members of the House Judiciary Committee and asking them to support HB 1715, and vote it out of their committee with a "Do Pass" recommendation. The members of that committee are as follows:
