House Version of Hearing Aid Bill Voted "Do Pass"

HB 282 mandates insurance companies that write policies in Missouri to provide coverage for hearing aids for dependent children up to 19 years of age. The Missouri Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing testified before the House Health Care Policy Committee in support of HB 282 on 2/26/03. A Committee Substitute Bill was voted "Do Pass" by that committee on 3/12/03. All advocates who wish to see HB 282 passed this year should now contact the chair of that committee, Representative Roy Holand by e-mail rholand@services.state.mo.us, phone (573-751-2210 Voice), or fax (573-522-8665) and request that the bill be reported out of the committee. In addition, advocates should contact their local State Representative and urge his or her support for the bill when it is voted on. If you don't already know it, you can find the name of and contact information for your local Representative by going to the Missouri House website (www.house.state.mo.us).
