Jury Eligibility Bill Voted "Do Pass" (HCS HB 500)

We are pleased to announce that yesterday (4/3/03) the House Judiciary Committee adopted a House Committee Substitute for HB 500 and voted it out with a "Do Pass" recommendation. The language of the committee substitute bill is effectively the same as that of the original bill, and would allow people who are deaf, blind, or speech impaired to serve on petit and grand juries with the use of auxiliary aids and services. Advocates who want this bill enacted into law should now contact their local representative and ask him or her to vote in favor of HCS HB 500 when it comes to the House floor for a vote.
