ACTION ALERT! HS HCS HB 564

Yesterday the Senate Financial and Government Organization, Veteran's Affairs and Elections Committee held a hearing on HS HCS HB 564. Testimony was heard only from individuals in support of the bill. Time ran out before anyone in opposition was able to speak. While in executive session, the committee voted to remove House Amendment 7 (the amendment to create a "provisional public school certificate") due to the large controversy. HOWEVER, it will be reintroduced when the bill is brought to the Senate floor by the chair Senator Anita Yeckel. The committee voted SCS for HS HCS HB 564 as do pass on an 8 to 2 vote. Senator Anita Yeckel will now report it out as do pass to President pro tem Senator Peter Kinder.

All advocates who do not wish to see the "provisional public school certificate" amendment introduced on the senate floor should immediately contact (fax, e-mail and/or call) your Senator and all of the Senators and ask that they request Senator Peter Kinder NOT to put SCS HS HB 564 on the Senate floor calendar.

Look up for your Senator in your area
