HB 1040 - Keep Up The Pressure (Especially Phone Calls)

SCS HCS HB 1040 was voted "Do Pass" by the Senate Governmental Accountability and Fiscal Oversight Committee today, without allowing any public testimony to be given against the bill.  This is the bill that if passed into law would completely exempt educational interpreters from the licensure and certification requirements.

The bill must next be voted on by the entire Senate, so we are asking everyone to keep up the pressure by sending e-mails and faxes to all the members of the Missouri Senate (as well as the governor's office) urging them to "delete section 209.321.6 from SCS HCS HB 1040 because it would be harmful to deaf children in Missouri public schools."  We especially want to suggest that people call their Senators, as they all too often don't take time to read materials at this busy time of the year.  Furthermore, we really need parents of deaf children to help with this effort.

Phone and fax numbers for the Senators are as follows
