February 6, 2004 HB 1093 - What To Do To Support The Service Dog Bill
|
|
This past Wednesday the House Agriculture Committee
had a public hearing on HB 1093. If passed, that bill would make it
a violation of state law to discriminate against a person because of
the use of a service dog (including hearing dogs). The complete text
of the bill can be found at http://www.house.state.mo.us/bills041/biltxt/intro/HB1093I.htm.
MCDHH testified in support of HB 1093, as its passage would provide
under state law discrimination protection to hearing dog owners in
various circumstances.
Those persons who now want to move that bill along in the
legislative process can show support for the bill by contacting your
local representative if they are a member of the House Agriculture
Committee and request that they support HB 1093 and vote it out of
their committee with a "Do Pass" recommendation. If your
representative is not a member of the House Agriculture Committee,
you can contact the chair of the committee and express your support
for the bill. Contact information for the members of the House
Agriculture Committee is as follows (all telephone numbers are in
area code 573):
