HR 485 - Captioning Hearing

HR 485 urges the Federal Communications Commission to require real-time captioning of all local news,
weather, and sports programming by all television stations around the country no later than January 1, 2006, and to only provide exceptions to very small stations that would have to expend more than 2% of their annual gross income to provide real-time captioning of their news broadcasts. Advocates who would like to see HR 485 move forward should contact the chair of the House Rules Committee, Representative Jason Crowell (District #158) and URGE THAT HR 485 BE VOTED OUT OF HIS COMMITTEE WITH A "DO PASS" RECOMMENDATION. Representative Crowell can be contacted by calling
573-751-2459, Faxing to 573-522-9289, or sending an e-mail to Jason.Crowell@house.mo.gov.
