HB 530 (ASL Bill) Perfected by House

HB 530 was perfected by the House today, and is presently 6th on the House Calendar of House Bills for Third Reading. There were no amendments offered during perfection, and it seems pretty clear that this bill will pass the House upon third reading and will move on to the Senate. HB 530 would require that public schools in Missouri treat American Sign Language as a "foreign language" for credit granting and receiving purposes, as well as for meeting admission and graduation requirements at any public college or university in Missouri. We will keep you informed regarding the progress of HB 530.
