SB 435, sponsored by Senator Scott Rupp
of Wentzville, had a
public hearing before the Senate Commerce, Energy and
Environment Committee this morning in the Senate Lounge
of the Capitol Building. At that hearing three people testified
in support of the bill, and nobody testified opposed to the bill.
The three witnesses who supported the bill were Dr. Roy Miller,
Executive Director of the Missouri Commission for the Deaf
and Hard of Hearing (MCDHH), Kim Davis, Workshop/Training
Specialist at MCDHH, and Stacie Bickel, Executive Assistant/
Staff Interpreter at MCDHH. At the hearing Dr. Miller distributed
copies of over 125 e-mails that he had received in support of
a bill requiring captioning of electronic video instructional
materials. We will keep you informed regarding the progress
of SB 435.
