SB435 (Captioning of Instructional
Materials) is read

At the request of the Missouri Commission for the Deaf and
Hard of Hearing Senator Scott Rupp from Wentzville has
introduced Senate Bill 435, which, if passed, would require
that beginning January 1, 2008 manufacturers and publishers
of electronic video instructional materials (CD, DVD, videotape,
film, etc) marketed in Missouri caption those materials.
SB 435 is the companion bill to HB 181 that was introduced by
Representative Therese Sander last month.

We have already received over a hundred e-mails in support
of HB 181.  If you would like to see a law passed mandating the
captioning of electronic video instructional materials, and you
have not already done so, please send an e-mail to
MCDHH@mcdhh.mo.gov indicating your support for
HB181 / SB435.  Those e-mails will be presented to legislators
at the committee hearings for these bills.
